General Information
- Four weeks would be the “perfect” time frame for the trip.
- Time should be considered to explore Boston and the Newport Coast.
- It is implied that every downtown be visited.
- Most of 20 goes around Chicago and not downtown. Plan accordingly if you wish to see downtown.
- We highly recommend reviewing our maps section below to view and take the Historic Alignments.
- In Iowa, Route 20 has been realigned to a four lane highway across the state. Please refer to the historic maps for Iowa to enjoy the trip.
- Two weeks in the minimum time we recommend for taking this amazing journey. The mileage between days gets longer the further west you travel due to great distances between towns and man-made attractions.
- Natural beauty is at every turn.
- The itineraries places you in a location at the end of the day where attractions are numerous and can be seen well past traditional closing times.
- We advise you to reach your end destination by 6PM to relax.
- Visit the local tourism office or chamber of commerce and let them know you are traveling cross country. They will love to hear from you.
- Eat locally when possible, the best question to ask is, “What is your most popular item”. You will get some great food!
Have an amazing trip!
